Yes. Recap keeps recording with the screen off or while you use another app. While Recap is open and recording, the screen is also kept awake so you can see the timer and flag moments.
Recording pauses for the call and resumes automatically afterwards. The same applies to Siri and alarms.
Yes, and you can connect or disconnect them mid-lecture — Recap switches over and keeps going.
There is no fixed limit. Audio uploads in ten-minute pieces while you record, so transcription is already underway before the lecture ends.
Recap needs microphone access. Open iOS Settings → Recap and turn on Microphone. Recording also requires an active Recap Pro subscription.
Usually a minute or two after you finish. You can close the app — it carries on in the background and the lecture appears in your library when it is ready.
Transcription can mishear technical terms, names and formulas, and the notes are generated from that transcript. Check anything important against your slides or lecturer. Tapping a timestamp jumps the audio to that exact moment so you can hear what was actually said.
Chat answers come only from what was actually said in that recording, and cite the moment they came from. If a topic was never mentioned, Recap will say so rather than invent an answer.
This usually means the audio was too quiet or too short to transcribe. The recording is still on your phone. Email us with your Support ID and the lecture's date and we will take a look.
On your phone. It is uploaded only so it can be transcribed, then deleted from our servers once your notes are written. Playback comes from your device. See the Privacy Policy.
Open it, tap “…” in the top corner, and choose Delete lecture. That removes the notes, quiz, chat and audio permanently. You can also press and hold a lecture in your library.
Email us from the address you would like us to reply to, include your Support ID, and ask for deletion. We will remove your account and all of its content.
Recap accounts are anonymous, so there is no email or password tying your lectures to you. If you deleted the app, we have no way to identify or restore those lectures. Keeping your Support ID is the only way we can help later.
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not inside Recap. Open Settings in Recap and tap Manage subscription, or go to iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid being charged for the next period.
Open Settings in Recap and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with. If it still does not appear, email us with your Support ID.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — we cannot issue them directly. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
The subscription follows your Apple Account, so it restores on any device signed in with it. Your lectures follow your Recap account, which is stored in iCloud Keychain — so a new phone signed into the same Apple ID will usually find them.
Recap is available in English and Spanish. It follows your phone's language by default, and you can change it in Recap under Settings → Language. The change takes effect the next time you open the app.
