These terms are the agreement between you and Recap. By using the app you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use Recap.
Recap records a lecture, transcribes it, and uses AI to produce notes, chapters, a quiz and a chat you can ask questions of. It is a study aid. It is not a substitute for attending your classes or doing your own work.
Before you record, make sure you are allowed to. Laws on recording other people differ by country, state and province, and many schools and universities have their own rules about recording lectures. Some require the lecturer's permission; some prohibit recording outright; some allow it only for personal study.
You are solely responsible for obtaining any consent required and for complying with the rules of your institution and the law where you are. Recap cannot know your local rules and does not check them for you.
You also agree not to publish, sell or distribute recordings, transcripts or notes of someone else's lecture without their permission. Lecture content usually belongs to the lecturer or the institution.
Recap is for studying. Using it to cheat — for instance during an exam or assessment, or to submit AI-generated text as your own work — may breach your institution's rules. That is your responsibility, not ours.
Do not trust Recap's notes blindly. Transcription can mishear words, especially names, formulas and technical terms. The notes, chapters, quizzes and chat answers are generated by AI from that transcript and can be incomplete or simply incorrect.
Always check anything that matters against your own notes, the lecture slides, or your lecturer. Recap makes no promise that its output is accurate or complete, and you should not rely on it as your only source when studying for an exam.
Recap creates an anonymous account for you automatically, so you can start recording without signing up. That account exists on your device.
If you delete the app, your lectures cannot be recovered. There is no email or password linking them to you, so we have no way to identify who they belonged to. Your Support ID is shown in Settings.
You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
Recording requires Recap Pro. Plans are offered weekly, monthly and yearly, and a free trial may be available to new subscribers.
Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store's terms. We cannot issue refunds directly. If a refund is granted, access to Recap Pro ends.
Do not use Recap to:
Your recordings, transcripts and notes are yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store, process, transcribe and generate study material from your content, and to share it with the processors listed in our Privacy Policy. We do not claim ownership, and we do not use your content to train AI models.
Recap is provided as it is. We may change, suspend or discontinue features and may impose limits, including on recording length or usage, to keep the service running. Transcription and AI generation depend on third-party providers and may be unavailable at times.
You may stop using Recap at any time and delete the app. We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are breached, or where required by law. If we terminate your access without cause and you have paid for a period you cannot use, contact us.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Recap is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of output.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to Recap is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost recordings, lost notes, missed study time, or academic outcomes.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions — in that case the exclusion applies only as far as the law permits, and you may have rights that these terms cannot limit.
Recap is distributed through the App Store. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Recap. Apple has no obligation to provide support for Recap. If Recap fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation.
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use Recap after a change means you accept the updated terms.
